This fall the CGP Youth Advisory Board and I worked together to raise funds, plan out, and put together 50 care packages. We know that the long winter break can be a difficult time for LGBTQ+ youth. There are more expectations to spend time with family, including extended family, and less time with friends. It can be a season of joy. It can also be a time of hiddenness, isolation, and sadness.
In less than a week all 50 packages were claimed and later this week we will start delivering them to schools and nonprofits across Island, San Juan, Skagit, Snohomish, and Whatcom counties.
Beginning 12/20/25, the day after most schools close up for winter break, we will be posting something here on a daily basis. This is something to look forward to. A place to make comments and see what others might be thinking. And a reminder that you are not alone, no matter how good or how hard things feel. We are in this together, as an LGBTQ+ community.
So check back soon! If you are interested in learning more about the Youth Advisory Board you can check it out here.

It’s inspiring to see such thoughtful care packages being delivered to support LGBTQ+ youth, emphasizing the importance of connection and emotional well-being. Similar attention and compassion are vital in senior care, where small gestures can greatly reduce isolation and foster a sense of belonging. Acts of kindness like these remind us that meaningful support transforms lives in both youth and senior care communities.
